Three days til Vegas!

Well, today is your lucky day blog readers. Because today you are reading the first ever guest blogging by..... GByrd. You know, as seen in the title of this blog; gbyrd'shouse. I've been telling the wife for a while that I would post a guest blog for her and she deemed today as the day. The best news is I only have one more day of work before being off for five days!

Being this is our first time to Vegas I am open to any and all suggestions. I've received much advice from coworkers and friends at church on places to eat and locations we must visit. We'll see the pirate show at Treasure Island, the fountains at The Bellagio, high in the sky view from the Stratosphere, the CSI crime lab headed up by Gil Grissom (no wait, that's a tv show, it's fictional), well you get the idea. Lot's to see. I think the best advice I received was from one of my old Hertz buddies who said "Just make sure you win more than Mel spends." Point well taken.

Now, it's the time I try to sound like my wife. Well, today I went to Old Navy after work to pick out a brand new swim suit. As you know I'm packing on a few lb's in the love handle region. Anywho, picked out a stunning red piece and threw in a pair of flip flops to top it off. I can't wait to lay out at the pool!!!!! Fine, I did kind of sound like Mel there but thing is I actually did go to Old Navy. My new red trunks will work out just great I assure you.

That's it from me. I'll try to bring more to the table next time I post. Quick shout out. Doug, keep coachin' 'em up. I want to see Ethan hit a curveball next time you come down. Everyone else, I'll talk to you after the trip. Thanks for keeping up with our little simple life.

4 Days till Vegas!

Oh my, our trip is coming up fast. I haven't done much of anything to prepare. I DID put on that tankini & it is not going to work. I won't go into details, it's just not going to. I'm going to try on some maturnity swimsuits at old navy tomorrow & see if one will work. If it doesn't, I'm not sure what I'm going to do. Gavan is playing in a golf scramble on Saturday so I'm going to be doing laundry, packing, & last minute things for the trip all day, which will actually be nice. Just some Melody time. We had a dr's appt yesterday, which I will update on the pregnancy journal. I had a dental cleaning today & came out with zero cavities & a fun goodie bag. My friend, Tiffany, is the new hygenist & the dentist right beside my office so I just popped over there during lunch. I have a hair appt Friday, which I need desperately & Gavan had one today. He got his summer cut, a buzz. I don't mind. He likes the change. This is like my week of appts cause I had my 1 year lasik check today by my boss & my eyes are perfect. Have a mentioned everyone should get lasik if they can? It is awesome. No mess or hassle with anything! Welp, I'm off to watch the finale of American Idol. I know Jordin is going to win but I've got to see the surprise performers & all the other fun stuff too!

6 days till Vegas!

I haven't even started packing but I might want to think about it. A friend of Gavan's came back from Vegas this weekend & said that it was about 97 or 98 degrees each day so I think we might be having some pool time while we're there. Great, everyone is going to think I've had 1 too many twinkies or something. I've got this pooch in my belly but I don't quite look pregnant yet. I'm sure Gavan is going to love laying out beside is chubby-bellied wife! I've got a tankini that was a little big on me & I never really wore it so I'm hoping it will work for a couple dips in the pool. I might want to get it out & try it on though! I'm not really looking forward to getting in a swimsuit right now but if its going to be that hot, I'm not going to care too much. Well, we're off to go take a walk. Nighty night.

Little League Baseball

We got to watch Corbin (8 yrs old) & Ethan (6 yrs old) play baseball this weekend in Yukon. They were both in a tournament & ended up playing each other for one game. Ethan's team won & kept saying "Corbin, we smoked you guys!". He loved rubbing it in that they beat Corbin's team. During the game Corbin was playing pitcher & Ethan hit a ground ball right to Corbin. Corbin proceeded to throw Ethan out at 1st base. That ended the inning & as everyone was going to their dugouts, Corbin ran up to home where Ethan was & just pointed at him & laughed cause he got him out. It was pretty funny. Oh yeah, Ethan was playing right field & the inning had just started. He started dancing around & holding himself cause he had to go to the restroom really, really bad. It got so obvious that the ump called time out & said,"That kid has to go the bathroom really bad!". Ethan ran off to the bathroom after that. I thought he might pee his pants cause he was dancing so bad! Needless to say, we enjoyed watching our nephews play ball this weekend. I got a nap in Saturday & today which was nice. I've been getting pretty tired during the middle of the day & really hungary pretty much all day. But I'm starting my 11th week so hopefully some of this will stop soon. We've got a countdown of 7 days till we leave for Vegas! It's coming up so fast, I haven't really had time to think about it. We're excited though! Have a good Monday, or at least try to!

What I come home to.....

Well, here are some pics of what I come home to pretty much each day. The yard has become Gavan's baby over the last year or so. He makes it look really nice, especially our grass. He has planted quite a bit of seed & now it really looks full. The flowers are all so nice too. The orange ones are the tiger lillies & the coral ones are our roses. The green plant is our potato vine. It's all in our front flower bed. It's a nice picture to come home too, especally Gav! I was outside tonight for a little while & decided to take a few pics. We got a new camera for x-mas but I don't use it very much right now. But come December, it will definatly get used! I got 2 posts in within like a few hours. How did I do that? Oh well, enjoy.

Remodel price quote

Ok so we were thinking about doing a little remodel to the kitchen & bring the washer & dryer inside, making a little laundry room off the kitchen. Well, we heard back on our price quote of what it would cost & it was super high, at least for what we thought it was going to be. It's not really worth putting that much into the house cause we won't get it back when we sell after a few years. A friend of ours came today & looked at it & pretty much agreed that the quote was probably about right for the work needing to be done. Sooooo, not sure what we're going to do now. If we don't do any remodel I at least would like to give the kitchen a new face lift. Like new rugs, curtains, wall color, theme. I don't know what but just something new. Since we won't have to work on the nursery this time we can do a little somethin' somethin' to the kitchen. I'll keep you updated. Today is beautiful out. This little cold front is wonderful. At lunch, I went & treated myself to Chick-fil-A & sat in my car under a tree with the windows down while I ate & then read Harry Potter. It was nice & relaxing. I'm on the last book that came out, Harry Potter & the half-blood prince. Just started it. I read all the rest like a couple of years ago & never finished this one so I'm reading it before the baby gets here. It will take me a couple of months cause I only read it at lunch. Well, I'm off to barbeque some chicken on the grill tonight. Hey Doug, thanks for signing my guestbook! I'll work on that girlfriend for Ethan for you! Happy hump day.

Check out the pregnancy journal

I don't think I've mentioned it but I put a link to the pregnancy journal that I'm going to keep. The link is above our picture. Pictures will start appearing once I start getting bigger & the nursery gets back up & stuff. It is just an easy way to know how far along I am & to keep us with us during these next 7 months! Don't forget to sign the guestbook too!

Gotta love our mothers

Hopefully everyone had a good weekend & good Mother's Day. We went to church in Hinton & then out to Gavan's parent's house for lunch. All the nephews & Dayona were there so it was nice to see all of them. Dayona is getting so big! She's 4 months old now & still has a lot of black hair! We just ate & visited for most of the afternoon. I love you mom & Bev! Gavan & I worked in the yard on Saturday & then he went & played golf. I took a nice nap that afternoon & just did some stuff around the house. Pretty lazy, actually. But I figure I am allowed to do that right now! I just can't believe that it is the middle of May. The months just go by so fast. December is going to be here before I know it. I can't wait! My parents & Myra came down today & we all met Michael for lunch. Happy B-day to my brother! He's the big 29! What an old man. Myra informed us that they had been at OC that morning enrolling her for school in the fall! We are all so excited for her & know she'll love it! I'm excited for her to be close to us because right now we hardly get to see her! She'll be a great babysitter too, which she pointed out to me today! I'm off for now. Check out Adam & Heidi's blog in New Zealand. They are our good friends who are missionaries & have been gone for almost a year now. We continue to pray for them & the work they are doing there. We miss them dearly.

Our Big News!

I'm sure some of you haven't heard yet, but we are expecting again!!!!!! Yes, it's true. I'm actually 2 months today! I know we said we had to wait 6 months before trying but we actually only had to wait 3. At first we were told 6, but at my recheck appointment she said to wait about 3 or 4. So we waited 3 & the next thing we knew, we were pregnant! Just call me Fertile Myrtle, I guess! We are very excited about expecting another baby & we are trying very hard not to be worried about something going wrong with this one. We know & believe that it is out of our control & God has this little baby in His hands. We just want to enjoy the pregnancy & look forward to being able to bring one home this time. Yes, I've started the annoying sickness that comes & goes throughout the day but it stopped after the 1st trimester last time so hopefully it will do the same this time. Only 4 weeks left of it. Our families are all VERY excited for us & were shocked at how far I already am because in their minds, we weren't supposed to start trying until the end of May! Please keep us in your prayers during this pregnancy. That's about it for this post. That is just about the only thing on my mind right now! Oh yeah, the due date is December 17, just 2 days after Gavan's b-day! So maybe he'll get an awesome present! Have a good Monday tomorrow!

Roses are red, actually coral

This rain & sunshine has made everything turn so green & colorful! Gavan has worked so hard on our yard & it is paying off. Our grass is really filling in & our flowers are all blooming. We have a beautiful rose bush right by our front door with coral roses on it. I counted 24 the other day! Our tiger lillies should bloom within the next week too! I love it. It just looks so nice. The rain today was a good soaking rain which is the best. I'm sure we'll get some more tomorrow. Hump day is always good. It means that the week is half over and Friday is even closer! We're actually staying home this weekend, which will be a change. We had a great time at home with my family though. Myra got to be there quite a bit which was nice cause I don't get to see her often enough. Well, I'm getting in bed earlier tonight so I'm saying goodbye now.
